During the 2013-2014 School Year Naples Elementary received $47,192 from School Land Trust to assist our students in the following areas:
* Improve student writing
* Improve student math scores
* Improve student reading scores Spending approximately $24,00.00 for writing supplies and software, 95% of our 5th grade students achieved proficiency on the Direct Writing Assessment given by the State of Utah. This was a significant improvement from the 2012-2013 school year.
Naples also spent approximately $700 to purchase math manipulatives and math centers to assist teachers in teaching math skills. Because the results of the new SAGE assessment have not yet been made public, I don't have the final results yet on the end-of-year assessments on math; however, since this is a new assessment with much higher standards than in the past, expectations are that proficiency levels will be down from the previous year. It is not possible to compare past results to this new assessment.
Naples Elementary spent approximately $44,022.00 on salaries and benefits for reading tutors, as well as books, headphones, journals, markers, and pencils to assist teachers in their direct instruction and reading centers.
